The 2025 Alma Dal Co School on Collective Behaviour
The Alma Dal Co Foundation, in collaboration with Istituto Veneto di Scienze Lettere e Arti, the University of Lausanne, the University of Padova and the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics launched the first Alma Dal Co School on Collective Behavior, held at Palazzo Franchetti in fall 2025.
Following the experience of the 2025 Alma Dal Co School on Collective behaviour, we brought together scientists at different stages of career and participants from very diverse disciplines and approaches, across scales. The School in 2025 created a rare sense of community—participants described it as “an amazing opportunity to meet people with similar interests in other disciplines” and “one of the most inspiring scientific experiences” of their careers.
Talks ranged from the physics of self-organization to the evolution of cooperation, yet what truly defined the School was the open, generous dialogue that connected people and ideas across boundaries. Feedback from both invited speakers and selected participants highlighted how the School’s format—with its balance of formal lectures, student talks, and long discussions—successfully bridged generations and disciplines.
