Program

The school starts on Monday, 29th September at 8h30 and finishes on Saturday, 4th October at 12h00.
An optional 'Conversation on music and science' event will follow up from 16:00 to 18:30 of Saturday, 4th October.

The school will combine lectures, talks, and discussion sessions to allow for in-depth exchanges with both the invited speakers and other participants. A number of arrangements will be put in place to stimulate intellectual exchange among participants and speakers. In particular, participants will be asked to engage with introducing the speakers and moderating the discussions. Moreover, thematic groups involving participants and speakers will be established on the first day and will report their conclusions at the end of the school. Guidelines will be provided after acceptance.

There will be time to explore Venice in the evenings and during a free afternoon halfway through the week. A detailed program will be published closer to the start of the school.

Additional Activities

A visit to European Cultural Center at Palazzo Bembo will introduce the participants to the Venice Biennale, the world famous international cultural exhibition. The title of the Biennale Architettura 2025 is Intelligens. Natural. Artificial. Collective. offering a close connection with the themes of the school.

A visit to the Giardini del Redentore — a restoration of the vast Convent Garden of the Church of Redentore with its Old Workshops and Greenhouse, restored, maintained, and managed by the Venice Gardens Foundation, under the direction of president Adele Rerebaudengo. Is an opportunity to visit an extradordinary place, a mix of nature and culture, just reopend for both visitors and residents.

A lecture on Venice and the Regulated Lagoon by Francesco Musco, professor of urban planning at IUAV Università di Venezia, will introduce the participants to Venice and its Lagoon, both World Heritage sites.

Finally, to bridge the areas of Alma Dal Co' passions, a Conversation on Science and Music will take place with Massimo Cacciari, philosopher, Sandro Cappelletto, musicologist, Daniela Perani, neuroscientist, Cardinal Matteo Zuppi and the doctorate students of Venice Conservatory.
